Desert House

Weekend House for Professional Couple

Design Consultant, Schematic Design  |  2005 (unbuilt)  |  Desert Hot Springs, CA

The site was a 2.5 Acre lot with native desert in all directions and uninterrupted distant views of San Jacinto and San Gregonio mountains to the south and west. The house was conceived as a simple linear progression of spaces linked from east to west by an open-ended corridor that extends the views indefinitely.

Each of the program pieces extends along the length of the house following a rigorous 8’ module expressed by the steel structure and exterior concrete block walls. Lap pool, bar, study, living, dining, kitchen, guest bedroom, guest bath and master suite are sequentially stitched together and each space intimately relates to private gardens and patios that mediate and frame the desert experience.
