Dialogue Table

Co-Designer |  1995  |  San Diego, CA

This piece of ‘furniture’ was designed as response to an invitation to participate in a Gallery show at Simay Space Gallery entitled ‘Futility” (furniture gone wrong).

Our piece was conceived around the notions of dining-dialogue and the relationship between awake and dreaming states.

A simple steel frame serves as table-base for a horizontally mounted birch wood frame containing a large print with (bilingual) quote of Ocatvio Paz’s Labyrinth of Solitude.   An absurdly elongated fork and knife place setting completes the ‘futile table’ that invites us to ponder about the aesthetic and meaningful nature of quotidian objects of use and the acts associated with them.
